Miss Lou and Bob Marley to Be Named National Heroes Under PNP – Golding
Jamaican reggae legend Bob Marley and cultural icon Louise Bennett-Coverley will be declared national heroes if the People’s National Party (PNP), led by Mark Golding, wins the upcoming general elections.
The elections are constitutionally required by September.
Golding, the Opposition Leader, emphasized that honoring Marley and Bennett-Coverley with the National Hero title would be a top priority for a PNP-led government.
“We will bestow the Order of National Hero on the Honourable Louise Bennett-Coverley, making her the second female National Heroine,” he said.
Additionally, Golding highlighted that as Jamaica continues to embrace the spirit of ‘One Love,’ Marley’s globally renowned anthem, a PNP government would also celebrate the importance of “fi wi” language in shaping national identity.
