The Transport Ministry plans to introduce a new policy regarding aged vehicles, permitting the import of cars that are 10 years old and buses that are between 15 and 20 years old. This initiative aims to help public passenger vehicle (PPV) operators update their fleets.
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz announced that the draft policy is scheduled to be presented to the cabinet for discussion next week. He made this statement on Tuesday during a press conference at the Half Way Tree Transport Centre in Kingston.
Mr. Vaz highlighted that currently, approximately 90 percent of the island’s PPV operators rely on vehicles that are over 15 years old.
