Sprint legend Usain Bolt has reaffirmed his commitment to his alma mater, William Knibb Memorial High School, with a $2 million donation to support the school’s track and field team ahead of the Inter-Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) Boys and Girls Athletics Championships (Champs).

Principal Linvern Wright expressed gratitude for Bolt’s continued support, noting that the contribution, received two weeks prior, ensures the team is well-prepared for the upcoming event scheduled from March 25 to 29. He acknowledged Bolt’s dedication to the school despite personal financial challenges, quoting Bolt’s assurance: “No matter what is happening… I am still committed to my school.”

Wright encouraged the athletes to honor Bolt’s generosity with strong performances at Champs, expressing confidence in their potential to secure medals in events like the 4×400 meters relay and the 200 meters in Class Two.

This recent donation continues Bolt’s tradition of supporting William Knibb Memorial High School. In 2015, he contributed $1.3 million along with sports equipment to bolster the school’s athletic programs, which were facing financial constraints at the time.

Bolt’s unwavering support underscores his dedication to nurturing young athletic talent and giving back to the institution that played a pivotal role in his illustrious career.
